Marks of a Possible False Convert

On my birthday, in 2009, I preached a sermon titled: The Marks of a Possible False Convert. While it encouraged some, it caused a little bit of an uproar among those who disagreed with the sermon's content--especially among a few open-air preachers who ascribe to and teach a number of heresies.

This sermon was brought to my mind this morning when I received an email from Carla. Carla is from Lima, Peru.
Hey OnTheBox: I'm 28 years old and I have been watching your show for a long time. I came to saving faith in Christ after watching a video of Tony preaching a sermon called "Marks of a Possible False Convert." Until that day I believed I was a Christian because I once prayed a prayer and asked Jesus into my heart. But after watching that video I realize that I was a false convert and a hypocrite that used God’s forgiveness as a license to sin. After hearing the law and the Gospel for the very first time, I realized I desperately needed Christ to save me. I repented of my sins and put my trust in Him alone. Since that day I have had a desire to see people come to know Christ. A few weeks ago I was diagnosed with a Grade III Anaplastic Astrocytoma (brain cancer). It’s inoperable due to the location. I have a couple of questions for you I hope you can answer.
I emailed Carla and thanked her for writing. I told her we would try to answer her questions on today's show.

I hope this message is an encouragement to you and that the Lord uses it in the lives of others like Carla. And join me in praying for Carla as she battles brain cancer.
