Words of Comfort: Be a Survivor

Have you ever watched those programs where people have themselves dropped into some dessert, and show us how to survive? They show us some very important survival keys--what to do and what not to do; what to eat and what not to eat. A little knowledge can save our lives.

If you are a Christian, you are in a desert and a little knowledge can save you some great pain. You are being continually pounded by the burning sun of tribulation, temptation and persecution, so it's important for you to know that you can find shelter in "the shadow of God's wings" (see Psalm 17:8).
There will be times of darkness and freezing cold, and the only way you're going to survive is to warm yourself with the fire of God's love. You can start that fire with two pieces of wood that came together 2,000 years ago, and formed a cross. Keep that forever before your eyes.

Keep in mind that the trials of this life have a way of bringing us to our knees, and that's the safest place to be for the Christian. So try and say with Paul "I am exceedingly joyful in all of our tribulation" (see 2 Corinthians 7:4). And make sure you keep maintaining the fuel level. That is where you get your energy. Discipline yourself to feed on the Word daily, or you will become weak: No Bible, no breakfast. No read, no feed.
