Evidence Bible

“Just as rebellion leads to war, so surrender results in peace . . . The choice is ours—a virtual war with God or a peaceful surrender. Whichever we choose, we will find that God is more stubborn, more fierce, and more loving than we could possibly imagine. His call for us to surrender is unconditional, for the battle over our souls is intense. This is one war where victory would annihilate us and only surrender can save us.” Gary Thomas EvidenceBible.com

From The Evidence Bible:
“I am going to tell you some things about my father that will make him look bad. He regularly left my mother to fend for herself. I was once horrified to hear that he deliberately killed a helpless animal. Not only that, but he hit me (often). Here’s the information that’s missing: The reason he left my mom during the day was to work to earn money to take care of her and their children. He killed the animal because it had been run over by a car and was suffering. He regularly chastened me because he loved me enough to teach me right from wrong (I was a brat). Portions of the Bible that "make God look bad" merely reveal that we lack understanding. I never once questioned my dad’s integrity, because I trusted him (see Mark 10:15).”

(Email from Chris) "Hey box toppers! I was doing some one-to-one witnessing at App state last Thursday, and one guy's take on the afterlife was this: He said he believes in God, heaven, and hell, and said that he doesn't want to go to heaven because in heaven he will no longer be able to remember with pleasure the sinful things of this world which he enjoys. He would rather go to hell where he believes it is more likely he'll be able to remember the carnal pleasures of life earth."

There is no reason to think God does a mind-wipe when you die. Revelation 21:4 declares, “He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.” This passage speaks of God wiping away every tear from the believer’s eye. There is no reason to think it speaks of memory deletion, the more common thought would simply be of absolute comfort in the arms of Christ.
This person derives his beliefs about Hell from his conscience and the Bible. The Bible describes Hell as weeping, gnashing of teeth, outer darkness, and torment. No pleasure in Hell.
He very rightly pointed out what is holding him back from following Christ, his love for sin. It’s like being in an ocean and hugging a belt of gold bars as you slowly drown yourself. His only hope is to forsake His sin and swim to life boat of Jesus Christ while he still has time.
