After I shared my faith in Christ, he (63 year old law enforcement officer) informed me that he knew the bible better than me, he had gone to church . . . and he did not believe in God. Being (I thought) well trained in the Ray Comfort one sentence response... so you believe that nothing created everything, then he said the big bang theory... he shut me up! (You would think HE was using the law). All I could think of to say was I was sorry that he had come to that conclusion, but one day he will stand before a just and righteous God, and at some point every knee with bow and declare Jesus is Lord . . . Any tips or suggestions past the ‘so you believe nothing created everything’... Need more schooling on this one. You run into that sort more often.”

From a WND interview with Ray:  “All you have to do,” Comfort told WND, “is push them into a corner and say, ‘So, you’re an atheist?’ ‘Yep.’ ‘So you believe that nothing created everything, a scientific impossibility?’ And they’ll say, ‘Well, no.’ ‘So you believe something created everything?’ And they say, ‘Well, yeah. Something did, obviously.’ ‘So you’re not an atheist?’ ‘OK, I’m not an atheist.’

“This something you believe created everything,” Comfort continued, “do you think it was intelligent? I mean, could you create a bird or a flower or a tree or a blade of grass from nothing?’ And they’ll say, ‘No, I can’t do that.’ ‘Well, is this something you believe created everything intelligent?’ And they’ll say, ‘Obviously.’ And I’ll say, ‘Congratulations, you’ve just become an anti-science, knuckle-dragger in the eyes of our learning institutions, because you believe in intelligent design.’”

Which came first analogy…

Which came first – the blood or the heart that pumps the blood? Did the body evolve a heart because it needed?

How did the body survive when the heart hadn’t yet evolved? Or was the body alive without a heart? How did that work?

Did the skin exist before the blood formed? How did the skin stay alive without blood? Why did blood form and how did skin live without oxygen pumping through it?

If skin was able to live in that state, where did the oxygen come from, and why did blood suddenly need oxygen to keep it alive?

Did the lungs form because they were needed to pull in oxygen for the heart?

How long did it take for lungs to evolve, and how did the heart survive without oxygen?

Richard Dawkins, in his 2004 book “The Ancestor’s Tale” wrote, “The fact that life evolved out of nearly nothing, some 10 billion years after the universe evolved literally out of nothing, is a fact so staggering that I would be mad to attempt words to do it justice.”

Robert A.J. Matthews of Ashton University in England, who wrote, “It is now becoming clear that everything can – and probably did – come from nothing.”

Paul Davies, American physicist of Arizona State University wrote, “Even if we don’t have a precise idea of exactly what took place at the beginning, we can at least see that the origin of the universe from nothing need not be unlawful or unnatural or unscientific.”

“The whole thought that nothing created everything is an intellectual embarrassment for atheists,” Comfort told WND. “All you have to do is present unbiased facts about the unscientific and unthinking nature of atheistic evolution, and then watch people change their minds.”

Words of Comfort: "Imagine there’s no Heaven"

During a radio debate I once had with an atheist, my opponent said that the Beatles were all atheists, and that John Lennon's song "Imagine" was “The Atheist's Anthem.” I explained that while Paul McCartney had said that they were atheists (back in 1964), as they matured in their thinking each one became very spiritual. I also explained that to believe that John’s song “Imagine” is an anthem for atheism, is also unthinking. If I said “Imagine there's no New York, it's easy if you try,” I’m saying that New York exists as a reality, but let’s imagine (pretend) that it doesn’t. John Lennon’s “Imagine” is about the reality of Heaven and the sinfulness of mankind, who is continually causing wars over religion. The good news is that the time will come when all that evil will be stopped, and the world will live as one. Make sure you are part of that coming kingdom, where God’s will, will be done on earth as it is in Heaven. I hope someday you’ll join us…

"Are Jesus and Satan brothers?"

From GotQuestions.org: No, Jesus and Satan are not brothers. Jesus is God and Satan is one of His creations. Not only are Jesus and Satan not brothers, they are as different as night is from day. Jesus is God incarnate—eternal, all knowing and all powerful while Satan is a fallen angel that was created by God for God’s purposes. The teaching that Jesus and Satan are “spirit brothers” is one of the many false teachings of the Mormons (Latter Day Saints), and to some degree also the Jehovah’s Witnesses. Both of these groups are properly labeled as cults because they deny essential Christian doctrine. While they use Christian terms such as Jesus, God and salvation, they have heretical views and teachings on the most basic and essential Christian doctrines. (Please note that most Mormons today will vehemently deny that they believe Jesus and Satan are brothers. However, this teaching was most definitely a belief of the early Mormons).

The teaching that Jesus and Satan are “spirit brothers” is born out of the Mormons’ misunderstanding and distortion of Scripture as well as some of the extra-biblical teachings they consider to be authoritative. Simply put there is no way you can read the Bible using any type of sound hermeneutical principles and come away with the idea that Jesus and Satan are “spiritual brothers.” The Scriptures are very clear that Jesus is fully God, not some type of lesser god as the Mormons or other cults believe. The Scriptures are also very clear that God is transcendent above His creation which simply means that there is no comparison between Christ the Creator and Satan His creation.

Mormons believe that Jesus Christ was the first “spirit child” born to God the Heavenly Father with one of his many wives. Instead of acknowledging Jesus as the one true God, they believe He became God, just as they will one day become gods. According to Mormon doctrine, as the first of the “spirit children” of God, Jesus had preeminence over Satan or Lucifer who was the second “son of God” and the “spirit brother” of Jesus. It is ironic that they will use Colossians 1:15 as one of their “proof texts” because it says that: “He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn over all creation.” Yet they ignore verse 16 where we see that “By Him (Christ) all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth. Visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. ALL THINGS were created through Him and for Him.” All things—thrones, dominions, principalities or powers—include Satan and his demons.

In order to believe that Satan and Jesus are “spiritual brothers” one must deny the clear teaching of Scripture. Scripture is very clear that it was Jesus Christ who created all things and that as the second person of the triune Godhead Christ is fully and uniquely God. Jesus claimed to be God in many passages of Scripture. In John 10:30 Jesus said, “I am the Father are one.” Jesus was not claiming to be another lesser God. He was declaring that He was fully God. In John 1:1-5 it is clear that Jesus was not a created being and that He Himself created all things. “All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made” (John 1:3). How much clearer can it get? “All things” means what it says, and it includes Satan who as an angel was himself a created being just like the other angels and demons are. Scripture reveals Satan to be a fallen angel who rebelled against God and Jesus as being God. The only relationship that exists between Satan and Jesus is that of Creator and creation, of the righteous Judge Jesus Christ and the sinful created being, Satan.

Like the Mormons, the Jehovah Witnesses also teach that Jesus and Satan are spiritual brothers. While some Mormons and Jehovah Witnesses might sometimes try to sidestep this teaching because it is so antithetical to what the Bible actually says, it is nevertheless what these organizations believe and is part of their official doctrine.

Mormons believe that not only were Jesus and Lucifer “spirit children of Elohim,” but that also humans are spiritual children as well. In other words they believe that “God, angels, and men are all of the same species, one race, one great family.” This is why they believe that they themselves will one day become as much of a God as Jesus or even God the Father. Rather than seeing the clear distinction in Scripture between God and His creation, they believe that one day they will be a God themselves. Of course this is the same old lie Satan has been telling us since the Garden of Eden (Genesis 3:15). Apparently the desire to usurp the throne of God is endemic in the hearts of men.

In Matthew 16:15 Jesus asked the important question: “But who do you say that I am?” This is a question that is essential to salvation and one that the Mormons and Jehovah Witnesses get wrong. Their answer that Jesus is the spirit brother of Satan is the wrong one. Jesus is God the Son, and in Him the fullness of the Godhead dwelt bodily (Colossians 2:9). He created Satan and one day He will cast Satan into the lake of fire as the just punishment for his rebellion against God. Sadly on that Day of Judgment those who fall for Satan’s lies will also be cast into the lake of fire with Satan and His demons. The god of the Mormons and Jehovah Witnesses is not the God who revealed Himself in Scripture. Unless they repent and come to understand and worship the one true God, they have no hope of salvation.

Words of Comfort: A Visit to the Mall

I was visiting a mall with my relatives, and stood at a checkout. In front of me was a mother and son. She was kindly buying a music CD for her boy. He was about 15 years old—the age where peer pressure, music, and fashion are strongly influential in his search for identity. It was evident that he was finding it, with his effeminate-look, weird hairstyle and his earrings. He was typical of millions.

As we walked through the mall, I saw another youth. This one was wearing a T-shirt with a picture of two pretty girls kissing each other on the lips. Nothing unusual there.

When I exited the mall I heard the familiar sound of booming rap music, thoroughly laced with what we now comfortably call the “F-bomb.” It was an uneventful day at the mall.

No doubt when I was a youth someone looked at me, with my hair down to my shoulders and my weird clothes, and had thoughts of moral disintegration. But things are different today. The moral deterioration is no longer on a decline. It’s gone over the cliff. What has become normal today is still abdominal to the God who never changes. According to Romans 1, these are people who have vile passions that are against nature, who refuse to retain God in their knowledge and are given over to a debased mind, to do those things which are not right.

Our young people will be damned in a terrifying place called “Hell,” unless God in His mercy gathers laborers who will cast off their fears and reach out with the message of His forgiveness.

The day I went to the mall was the same day that Season Four of our TV program debuted in 123 countries. I had taken a faithful team to 13 European countries and filmed 13 episodes as we preached the gospel open-air style, in 13 days. Our hope is that when Christians watch these programs they will be inspired to personally get up on a soapbox and proclaim the gospel.

There are 70 million professing Christians in the United States. If just one in 70 stood up and preached wherever he or she saw a crowd of people--that would mean that one million Christians would be preaching the gospel of everlasting life across the nation. That’s the only real hope for this sinful country. This generation isn’t going to come to the Church. They hate us. That’s biblical. They love darkness and hate the light. We have to take it to them, and we will do that if we love them. Hell is their destination but Heaven can be the alternate. God’s grace is the determining factor, and if they don’t hear about His grace in the cross, they will perish through lack of knowledge.

God requires us to be faithful and His will is for us to be fruitful. He has commanded us to go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. It is time. Take courage and do it. We need you.

That Woman is Mad at Christians.

Todd’s response is such a great reminder of James 3:17, which teaches, “The wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy.”

In James 3:17 we are given some fantastic insights for impactive evangelism:

1) Be Pure. We should be living for Christ and have right motives for witnessing.

2) Be Peaceable. We should not be argumentative; we should avoid stirring up strife. We should be focusing on lifting up Christ. We should use breath mints. Remember, “It’s hard to listen to the words of life, through the breath of death.”

3) Be Gentle. We should not be rude, curt or overbearing; we should be sensitive and considerate.

4) Be Willing to Yield. We should aim for a dialogue over a monologue. We should be ready to let the other person speak and not cut them off while they’re speaking.

5) Be Full of Mercy. We should not get offended; we should be full of patience and compassion realizing the lost are spiritually blind (2 Cor. 4:3,4; Eph. 4:17,18).

6) Have Good Fruits. We should be a reflection of Jesus in our character and words. (See Gal. 5:22,23 for an inventory of the fruits of the Spirit.)

7) Be Without Partiality. We should not bend our knee to any sort of prejudice; we should witness to all sorts of people regardless of their culture, age, financial class or style of dress.

8) Be Without Hypocrisy. We should always be genuine and honest with people. We should not exaggerate or bluff; we should admit when we don’t know the answer to a question (and try to find it for them later, if they genuinely want an answer) and we should confess when we’re wrong.

1. The crowd of listeners. Open-air preaching can reach more sinners in 30 minutes than the average church does in a year. What are the chances of this people walking into a church service? We must take the gospel to them—to the streets.

2. The elevation. Manuel is standing on a box. People will see him from far and wonder, "What does he have to say?" Take a look at the crowd, it is not too close and not too far.

3. The easel/posters. Having some trivia questions and illustrations always help to capture the attention of people passing by and visually get the crowd's attention.

4. Acoustics. The building in front helps capture sound. The voice can get carried away several yards.

5. The “heckler.” A heckler helps to grow a crowd in a matter of minutes. Pick someone that has boldly answered the trivia questions. Have him stand between you and the crowd and let him vent out his arguments about atheism or evolution.

6. The use of The Good Test. The whole crowd is listening to your discussion with the heckler. Now is the time to take the conversation from his intellect (debate) to his conscience. "Do you think you are a good person?" The heckler will say, "Of course!" and now you can take him through the Commandments to bring knowledge of sin and make a way for the good news of the gospel.

7. The smiling faces of the listeners. Manuel relates to the crowd in the natural realm. And by using a little humor, the crowd enjoys the time. Their smiles will draw other people to come close and listen to the gospel.

8. The swing to the spiritual. You can be asking trivia questions and giving $1 for every right answer. And then, you announce the big price of $5 for the person who proves to be a good person. That's when you cross-over to the Commandments.

9. The distracted man in the front—keep up the energy to hold attention. Be loud without screaming and bold without judging. And even if some seem to be distracted, it can very well be that they are feeling a bit uncomfortable because their conscience is waking up.

10. The lady with the mirror. Unsaved people are unconcerned about eternity. We have to bring it before them, and with God’s help awaken them.

11. The lady looking intently into the mirror. The Law is like a mirror. It reflects truth and shows the detail of our sins.

12. The little child listening. Keep the message clear and simple enough for a child to understand it. Don’t get distracted by deep theology or apologetic rabbit trails.

Words of Comfort: Hot Dog for Dinner

I was moved as I watch a clip about a man in Florida who loved his dog. His name was Steve Gustafson (the man that is). His dog’s name was “Bounce.” But “Lunch” would have been a more appropriate name. While the 66 year-old was out walking with Bounce, he was pounced on by a seven foot hungry alligator and dragged into the water (the dog that is). Steve yelled “You’re not going to get her!” and immediately did a belly flop on top of the alligator, and managed to free the dog from the beast’s jaws.

While the canine was no doubt a little down in the mouth about the incident, his brave master was elated and escaped with just a few bruises and scratches. What brought a tear to my eyes was what the Alligator Hunter said: “What choice did I have? That’s my best friend. I didn’t think. You just react.” Such is the power of love.

Love drove Jesus to the cross, and love will drive us to take sinners to its blood-stained foot for salvation from the hungry jaws of death and Hell.

Tracts tips from Cannes Film Festival (pt.1)

“It seems unnatural and awkward to give out tracts to strangers, wouldn’t it be better to find other ways to reach them, perhaps focus on inviting them to church to hear the gospel?”

Our theology directs our methodology. Our theology demands the urgency to win the lost and common sense dictates the vast majority will never come to church. We have to follow Jesus & the apostles example and bring the gospel outside the church.

You’re left with 2 evaluation questions:

1. Do gospel tracts effectively reach people?

· Joey Hancock of the American Tract Society said, "Fifty-three percent of all who come to Christ worldwide come through the use of printed gospel literature."
Hudson Taylor the great missionary was saved through a tract, so was Moishe Rosen, founder of Jews for Jesus, Mitsuo Fuchida, commander of the Japanese planes during Pearl Harbor, Thomas Johannes Back, who served as General Director and spiritual leader over 800 missions workers who served around the word, and so many more.

· After George Whitefield read one called “The Life of God in the Soul of a Man,” he said, “God showed me I must be born again or be damned.” He went on to pray, “Lord, if I am not a Christian, or if I am not a real one, for Jesus Christ’s sake show me what Christianity is, that I may not be damned at last!” Then his journal tells us “from that moment . . . did I know that I must become a new creature.”

· A Christian book relates the true story of a diver who saw a piece of paper clutched in the shell of an oyster. The man grabbed it, found that it was a gospel tract and said, “I can’t hold out any longer. His mercy is so great that He has caused His Word to follow me even to the bottom of the ocean.” God used a tract to save the man.

2. Will a tract offend some people?
Sure, is it because of the packaging? No, most people smile when you give them a million dollars. But, the gospel will offend (God promised that). Someone going out of their way to preach the gospel outside of church will rub some people the wrong way, but that’s exactly what we’re instructed and given the example to do in Scripture.

· We see Paul taking the good news to people that weren’t looking for it at the Areopagus, to kings while on trial, in the marketplace going up to complete strangers. Acts says Paul’s “habit” was to preach in the synagogues on the Sabbath—if there was ever an opportunity to offend people, if ever a location not to go to, it was the synagogue—the national leader of the Jewish people, the leader of their temple, the High Priest, was a part of the crowd campaigning for Jesus’ death, and they preached Christ there—in human wisdom it would have made much more sense to teach your people how to witness, teach them to build long term relationships and at a BBQ subtly bring up Christ—but in the wisdom of God, there was a desperate urgency to bring the lost to the gospel, as if they were heading for Hell… He became as a Jew to Jews, he brought it in a relevant way, but He brought a message many didn’t want to hear and certainly not the way he was bringing it.


It’s not an acceptable method, but an incredible method!

1. People who would never come to church to hear the gospel
2. Leaves an impression of warmth and a smile
3. They realize this matters enough for someone to go out of their way to share it


“What do you say when you give out a tract?”

“If you want people to accept your tract from you, don’t say, ‘Would you like this?’ They will probably say, ‘What is it?’ and then you’re in trouble. Instead, say, ‘Did you get one of these?’ That question has a two-fold effect. You stir up curiosity and make them ask ‘One of what?’ That’s when you pass it to them. That phrase also makes them feel as though they are missing out on something. And so they are.” - Ray Comfort   

Words of Comfort: The Poor Linebacker

You may have seen the clip of that poor Kent State linebacker (Andre Parker) running 58 yards in the wrong direction. I say “poor” because I empathized with him. What he did was understandable, especially for someone like me who has the sense of direction of a dead goose. It’s very easy for me to get disoriented. What amazed me was that the opposing team chased him as he ran the wrong way, and they tackled him. I can’t believe that they too were disorientated, and suspect that they may have been embarrassed by what he was doing, and wanted to take him out as soon as possible. I hope so.

This world is running in the wrong direction. But this is no game. They are heading for Hell, and we are to do more than say that they need to turn around. We must run after them and tackle them, because we care.

Words of Comfort: Why I Look Like a Fool

An atheist once wrote to me and said, "I became an atheist to distance myself from people like you, but since becoming an atheist I’ve found that I don’t care – I honestly don’t care – if there is a God. I don’t care if there is an afterlife. I don’t care if I’m going to Hell. Oh, you can say all you want about that, I just don’t care. You can’t save me."

I wrote back: And I don’t believe a word you are saying. If you became an atheist to distance yourself from people like me, why are you writing to me? You may say that you don’t care, but you do, and so do I.

I care enough to get up on a soapbox thousands of times and look like a fool, to plead with people like you who either say that they don’t care about their eternal welfare, or show that they don’t by their godless lifestyle.

But your “I don’t care” attitude is in the with the Bible. It teaches that sinful mankind doesn't "care" about God. He gave them life itself and they don’t care. He gave them eyes to see His incredible creation, ears to listen to incredible music, taste buds to enjoy incredible food, and they don’t care. As the Psalmist says, "God is not in their thoughts."

If you had to give up one of those senses, which would it be? Would you willingly give up the ability to see? You don't care if you go blind? How about giving up your taste? Or your hearing? Imagine, never seeing a beautiful rose or a sunset, or the color blue ever again, or never tasting good food, or hearing the music of a bird in the early morning? If you are sane, you care. You care more than you realize.

But the loss of those precious senses are nothing compared to giving up your soul. Your "soul" is the real you. It’s the interchangeable word the Bible uses for your life. Your soul looks out the windows you call "eyes." It’s your soul that responds to the 10,000 friendly little taste buddies on your tongue. Your soul listens to the amazing sounds that are pulled into your inner ear. You don’t know what you have with these wonderful gifts from God, until you lose them. Familiarity does breed contempt. Jesus said that if a man gained the entire world but lost his soul, he is the biggest of losers.

Yet, every day more than 80 Americans "don't care" enough to take their own lives. Life's circumstances have tragically driven them to that terrible point. Atheism is your first step in that direction. You owe it nothing.

You are right about one thing though. I can’t save you. Only God can. So after you have read these words of mine, how about reading the words of God? Read Matthew chapter 5-7 and get a glimpse of His perfect holiness. Then think about how we all justly deserve Hell if God is that holy, and think about how Jesus cared enough to take your punishment upon Himself--to pay your fine so that the Judge of the universe could dismiss your case . . . so that you could have everlasting life. What more could you want?

You might recall a year ago we got an email from a woman named Vanessa who decided not to kill her child after watching “180”. In case you don’t recall, here is the original email she sent in:

(From 10/11) “My Name is Vanessa – and a couple months ago while at Santa Monica Pier – A brother in Christ approached my brother and I while we were listening to another brother give the word on a speaker box. After speaking to us he gave us this DVD and at that point no one knew I was expecting. After seeing this video I made the solid decision to proceed and keep my baby - I have since went to live a maternity home for further help to help me be in a safe environment for myself and the baby. I have also showed my family the video as well. My family is happy and supporting. I am 22 weeks along now and trusting in God for my baby's life.”

Ninety percent of gay men surveyed by The Advocate (a gay magazine) claimed to have been born gay.[i] I agree with them. Homosexuals are born that way. We are all born with a sinful nature. We all naturally lean toward sin. The Bible tells us, “The heart is deceitful above all things, And desperately wicked.”[ii] Homosexuality is among the many sins people gravitate toward.

Some struggle with lying, gossip, jealousy, or stealing, and others homosexuality. Because a guy struggles with same-sex attraction doesn’t mean God made him gay anymore than a guy struggling with anger means God made him a murderer. You have a choice about what you do with every temptation.

(Email from Sadie) "I have an acquaintance who just got engaged to her same-sex partner. I found out over Facebook. Before this I did not know that she was homosexual. I would like to witness to her and her partner. What would be the best way?"

From the Evidence Bible:  Rather than offend homosexuals by directly confronting the issue of their sinful lifestyle, modern evangelism often tries to soften the approach by saying that "God hates the sin, but loves the sinner." This isn’t a new concept.

Charles Finney stated, "God is not angry merely against the sin abstracted from the sinner, but against the sinner himself. Some persons have labored hard to set up this ridiculous and absurd abstraction, and would fain make it appear that God is angry at sin, yet not at the sinner. He hates the theft, but loves the thief. He abhors adultery, but is pleased with the adulterer. Now this is supreme nonsense. The sin has no moral character apart from the sinner. The act is nothing apart from the actor. The very thing that God hates and disapproves is not the mere event—the thing done in distinction from the doer; but it is the doer himself. It grieves and displeases Him that a rational moral agent, under His government, should array himself against his own God and Father, against all that is right and just in the universe. This is the thing that offends God. The sinner himself is the direct and the only object of his anger."

So the Bible shows. God is angry with the wicked [Psalm 7:11], not with the abstract sin. If the wicked turn not, God will whet His sword—He has bent His bow and made it ready—not to shoot at the sin, but the sinner—the wicked man who has done the abominable thing. This is the only doctrine of either the Bible or of common sense on this subject" (The Guilt of Sin).

The biblical way to witness to a homosexual is not to argue with him about his lifestyle but to use the Law to bring the knowledge of sin. This will show him that he is guilty of breaking God’s holy Law, and he is damned not because of, but despite his sexual preference. The Law was made for homosexuals, as well as other lawbreakers. “What is the most effective way to reach a Mormon?”
From World Religions in a Nutshell: We’ve just scratched the surface of Mormonism, but it should be very clear to you that even though Mormons use language that sounds Christian, it is not a Christian religion. It is a manmade religion invented by Joseph Smith, and it is heresy. A religion cannot teach that Jesus is the brother of Lucifer, that you and I can become gods, and that we’re saved by grace “after all we can do,” and still be labeled part of Christianity.

It is our responsibility to reach out to Mormons with the truth and love. If we care about them, we need to tell them there is a very real Hell and that the only way to be saved is not through the Church of Joseph Smith, but by God’s grace alone, through faith in Christ alone. So how do we do that?

There are several approaches you can take. If you have a good memory and a sharp mind, you can sword fight with Mormons using some of the information we’ve covered. Show them who God and Jesus really are according to the Bible, and how the Mormon “gospel” is “another gospel.”

But be prepared. If you get into an argument about Joseph Smith, becoming a god, and Jesus being the brother of Satan, it can get heated pretty quickly, because you’re attacking the very things they—and more than likely their family and friends—believe.

There is another way to reach Mormons that is very simple and effective. Although Mormons may appear confident and self-assured on the outside, many are dealing with a great deal of stress because they are striving for perfection. That’s the goal of their religion: to “be perfect as their Father in Heaven is perfect.” They are taught that the only way God will bring them to Heaven is if they are “worthy.” Well, the obvious question in every Mormon’s mind is, “Am I worthy enough?”

What you can do is reinforce their predicament. Show them that they are not even close to being perfect or “worthy” through their efforts. The Bible says that even our good works are like filthy rags in the eyes of a holy God (Isaiah 64:6). Mormons are just like the rest of us—sinners, by nature children of wrath, separated from God because of our sins, and deserving of His terrible justice. No amount of good works can ever make anyone “perfect” or save them from eternal Hell.

You must show them that the leap they’re trying to make to Heaven is a thousand times wider than the Grand Canyon—it’s impossible. This is actually good news for the Mormons, because it strips them of their false hope and opens the door for you to explain the true gospel that can actually save them. Share with them the hope that is found only in the true Jesus: “For by one offering He hasperfected forever those who are being sanctified” (Hebrews 10:14).

FALL OF MANKIND	LDS - A blessing (Mosiah 3: 11-16).  A necessary step in the progression of humanity to the level of Godhood.	Bible - The open rebellion of Adam and Eve against God resulting in their condemnation and the fall of mankind.
GOD	LDS - One of countless gods in existence.  An exalted man from another world who created the earth who's name is "Elohim."  He became a god by following the laws and ordinances of his god on the other world.  He has a body of flesh and bones.  D&C 130: 22-23.	Bible - The one and only God in all the universe, (Isaiah 44:6,8).
GOSPEL	LDS - The laws and ordinances of the Mormon church.	Bible - The death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus for the forgiveness of the sins of all who would trust in Him (1 Cor. 15:1-4).

JESUS	LDS - Literal offspring of God the father.  Spirit brother of Satan. A god in the Godhead. He is Jehovah of the O.T. compared to Elohim being the Father. He was the first spirit child to be born to the Father and Mother gods. Ordained as the Christ in the pre-existent Grand Council before coming to earth.	Bible - Jesus is God, second person of theTrinity (John 1:1,14; Col. 2:9).

Words of Comfort: Spinning Bullets

Modern rifles can fire a bullet at 3,000 feet per second. The key to their speed and accuracy is a spiral barrel which makes the bullet go faster--in the same way a quarterback causes the ball to spiral to make it go faster through the air.

In today’s vernacular, to put “spin” on something is to move away from the truth. However, there is a way to put legitimate “spin” on the bullet of the gospel so that it has speed and accuracy. It is the moral Law (the ten Commandments) that sends the gospel out with speed and accuracy, cutting through the air of sinners’ excuses like nothing else. If you have never taken someone through the moral Law, try it. It is biblical (see Mark 10:17, Luke 18:18) and it certainly hits the target of human understanding. Charles Spurgeon said,

"I do not believe that any man can preach the gospel who does not preach the law… If men do not understand the law, they will not feel that they are sinners…Lower the Law, and you dim the light by which man perceives his guilt. This is a very serious loss to the sinner, rather than a gain; for it lessens the likelihood of his conviction and conversion. … I say you have deprived the gospel of its ablest auxiliary [most powerful weapon] when you have set aside the Law. You have taken away from it the schoolmaster that is to bring men to Christ…they will never accept grace till they tremble before a just and holy Law.”

(Facebook Message from Karen) “This is my 11 year old daughter who was 1 day from being aborted when I was 11 weeks pregnant. I was told by the birth father that he took mess that would cause the child to be born with birth defects. I went to Planned Parenthood for my initial consultation. Because of laws in TN, they were required to give me alternatives and a 48 hour waiting period. Thank God Hope Resource Agency had their office right next door. I went directly to them. The counselor prayed with me and gave me "HOPE". I had courage to stand up to the father and say "No"! To the abortion. He was lying about the birth defects.

Melody is a beautiful, bright young lady who has a passion for Christ. She is familiar with WOTM and she is sharing Christ in her middle school. Thank you for your ministry. God bless all of you!”

What Hollywood Believes – George Clooney

Clooney described his ideal scenario for life: “The way you want to do it is like Cary Grant. Have a successful career, then . . . decide you’re looking too old, leave the movies and never look back. Then at 80 years old have a stroke and drop dead. That’s perfect.”

WHB remark: When I was 16 years old, a friend and I decided that after we turned 50 we would commit suicide. We thought life wasn’t worth living when you were over the hill. I heard recently that my friend tragically committed suicide at the age of 54. I have no plans to follow in his steps. I have discovered that, as I age, I gain a greater appreciation for life. I don’t think it’s a perfect plan for a famous actor to have a stroke at the age of 80 and drop dead. I’m sure that no one in his right mind willingly gives up his life and those he loves. Fortunately, there is a better plan. George Clooney said that he didn’t believe in heaven and hell. It’s amazing how many people think something doesn’t exist because they don’t believe in it. Let’s say that I decide gravity is horrible. It injures and kills multitudes. Countless individuals die in plane crashes because of gravity. People fall off ladders; they tumble off mountains; they topple off roofs. They die while skydiving, bungee jumping, riding roller coasters, etc. This all happens because of the horrible law of gravity. Tell me, if I become offended at the results of gravity, or if I don’t believe it exists, is it going to change the reality of its existence? Of course not. The law of gravitational pull isn’t changed in the slightest, just because I don’t like it and choose not to believe in it. Besides, if it weren’t for gravity, we would all be dead and our lifeless bodies would be spinning through space. Gravity is good, not bad. It is there to preserve, not to destroy. It is only those who transgress its precepts who suffer. The same applies with the Moral Law (the Ten Commandments). How can we say that a law that forbids murder, adultery, theft, and lying is bad? Only those who transgress its precepts will suffer, and the Bible warns that hell is the full and final result of transgression.

George Clooney stated, “I don’t believe in heaven and hell. . . I don’t know if I believe in God. All I know is that as an individual, I won’t allow this life—the only thing I know to exist—to be wasted.”

WHB remark: A legitimate question arises: Could the Bible be wrong about hell? Remember, the source of the claim isn’t the word of fallible man; it is the Word of an infallible Creator. But let’s infer for a moment that there is no Judgment Day and therefore no hell. That would mean that the Scriptures are a huge hoax, in which more than forty authors collaborated (over a period of 3,000 years) to produce a document revealing God’s character as “just.” They portrayed Him as an impartial Judge, who warned that He would eventually punish murderers, rapists, liars, thieves, adulterers, etc. Each of those writers (who professed to be religious) therefore bore false witness, transgressing the very Commandments they claimed to be true. It would mean that Jesus Christ was a liar, and that all the claims He made about the reality of the coming Judgment were therefore false. It would also mean that He gave His life in vain, as did multitudes of martyrs who down through the ages have given their lives for their belief in Christ. Also keep in mind something we have already looked at: if there is no ultimate justice, then the Creator of all things is unjust. He sees the murder and rape of multitudes and couldn’t care less, making Him worse than a corrupt human judge who refuses to bring criminals to justice. Here’s the good news if there is no hell: You won’t know a thing after you die. It will be the end. No heaven, no hell. Just nothing. Sadly, you won’t even know that it’s good news. Here’s the bad news if the Bible is right and there is eternal justice: You will find yourself standing before the judgment throne of a holy and perfect Creator who has seen your thought-life and every secret sin you have ever committed. Nothing has been hidden from the eyes of God. You and I have a multitude of sins, and God must by nature carry out justice. Ask Him to remind you of the sins of your youth. Ask Him to bring to remembrance your secret sexual sins, the lies, the gossip, and other idle words. You may have forgotten your past, but God hasn’t. The Bible continually claims that there will be a great and terrible Day of the Lord. If we don’t believe it, it is still true. It will still happen. Yet, there is good news—incredibly good news. We deserve judgment, but God offers us mercy. Through the cross of Jesus Christ, He paid our fine so that we could leave the courtroom. He destroyed the power of death for all who obey Him. Jesus promised that if you obey Him, you will know the truth, and the truth will make you free. Please, don’t wait any longer. Think of the Commandments you have broken. Think of what He suffered on the cross on your behalf. Then confess your sins and turn from them. Tell God you are truly sorry, then trust the Savior as you would trust yourself to a parachute. The moment you do that, you will pass from death into life. You will be transformed by God Himself. If you are not sure how to do this, see Psalm 51 at the back of this book.

From The Evidence Bible: Sinners often accuse God of being unjust, because they assume that everyone will receive the same punishment in hell. God’s judgment, however, will be according to righteousness (Acts 17:31). Matthew 12:24 shows that there will be degrees of punishment. See also Mark 6:11.


"How can people be happy in heaven, knowing that their unsaved loved ones are suffering in hell?"

From The Evidence Bible: Those who ask such questions fall into the category of those who asked Jesus a similar question. The Pharisees said that a certain woman had seven consecutive husbands, so whose wife will she be in heaven (Mark 12:23)? Jesus answered by saying that they neither knew the Scriptures nor the power of God. The unregenerate mind has no concept of God’s mind or His infinite power. If God can speak the sun into existence; if He can see every thought of every human heart at the same time; if He can create the human eye with its 137,000,000 light-sensitive cells, then He can handle the minor details of our eternal salvation.

John writes that in heaven "we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is" (1 John 3:2), so perhaps we will be fully satisfied that God is perfectly just and merciful, and that He gave every individual the opportunity to accept or reject Him. However He works it out, God promises that there will not be sorrow or crying in heaven. Our focus in heaven won’t be on our loss, but on our gain.

Words of Comfort: Richard Dawkins Talks about his Death

Richard Dawkins isn’t just thinking about his coming death, he’s talking about it. So often Afterlife skeptics say “Nobody knows what happens after death.” But Professor Dawkins knows exactly what happens, and he speaks with an authority that suggests that he must have some sort of insider information: “Of course it just ends. What else could it do? My thoughts, my beliefs, my feelings are all in my brain. My brain is going to rot. So no, there’s no question about that.”

Asked what he would say if he met God after his death, he said, “If I met God, in the unlikely event, after I died? The first thing I would say is, well, which one are you? Are you Zeus? Are you Thor? Are you Baal? Are you Mithras? Are you Yahweh? Which God are you, and why did you take such great pains to conceal yourself and to hide away from us?”

Why did the Creator “conceal” Himself from us? Mr. Dawkins has the beauty of creation displaying the genius of God’s handiwork, and he doesn’t think it was created. He thinks instead that nothing created everything (which is scientifically impossible) or that we were “seeded by aliens” as he once said to Ben Stein.

Dawkins added, “No serious scientist doubts that we are cousins of gorillas, we are cousins of monkeys, we are cousins of snails, we are cousins of earthworms.” He may believe that he’s part of the earthworm family, and that humanity can crawl through the dirt and get away with it. But we won’t. We were created by God with moral responsibility.

He concluded with, “I’m thinking of working on another book and it might be some sort of autobiography, but it’s very much in the planning stage.” Autobiographies usually come just before the final curtain, and I have better inside information. I would like him to know that before he goes to meet his Maker that only the grace of God can make him fit to survive.
