Words of Comfort: Convinced!

“Ray, allow this atheist to introduce myself. I was raised in a Christian home and went to church and took the notion of being like Jesus seriously. At a bad time in my life, I found myself in jail for 56 days (-in solitary). I only had a bible, and I read it for the 1st time cover to cover. I read it 3 times. I became convinced after the 1st reading that there was no God.” David Walters

David, I have two important questions for you. The first is, if you “took the notion of being like Jesus seriously,” why were you in jail? And the second is, during that time did you know the Lord? As I’m sure you will know with your Christian background, that’s what a Christian is--someone who knows the Lord.  As an atheist, that puts you into a dilemma. If you say that you did know the Lord, you are admitting that God is real. If you say that you thought you did, then you didn’t, and you were never a Christian. You faked it all that time. But you are not alone. Many, if not most atheists have had false conversions and that’s why they are so adamantly anti-Christian. They heard a false gospel that says that Jesus will give you joy and peace and fix their problems, and when what they think is Christianity doesn’t deliver the promised goods, they become disillusioned and often bitter. If, however, you are interested in seeing how and why you were deceived, freely listen to “Hell’s Best Kept Secret” and “True and False Conversion.” They are both on the Home Page of www.Livingwaters.com
