Words of Comfort: Making Bread

Have you ever made bread? It’s an interesting experience—especially the way yeast makes the dough rise and puff up. The Bible word for yeast is “leaven,” and throughout Scripture it is used symbolically as that which is false: "In the meantime, when an innumerable multitude of people had gathered together, so that they trampled one another, He began to say to His disciples first of all, ‘Beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisy. For there is nothing covered that will not be revealed, nor hidden that will not be known. Therefore whatever you have spoken in the dark will be heard in the light, and what you have spoken in the ear in inner rooms will be proclaimed on the housetops" (Luke 12:1-3). The religious leaders were false teachers, hypocrites, and they were puffed up with their pride. Leaven was at work. So if you look at religious hypocrisy and it makes you mad, take consolation that on Judgment Day God will pour His burning wrath on hypocrites. Perfect Justice will be served. Perfect Justice—that means He will also punish rapists, thieves, liars, pedophiles, adulterers, homosexuals, fornicators, murderers, and even those who hated, or lusted. That’s why we all need a savior, and because God is rich in mercy He provided one in Jesus Christ. If you are interested in being forgiven and granted everlasting life, check out www.needGod.com
