Words of Comfort: Take the test.

"Only non-believers don't believe in sin, so we don't sin." Bjarte Bjørkum

Sin is transgression of God’s Law. It’s the Bible word for lying, stealing, lusting, hatred, murder, adultery, etc. So I have a problem with your assertion that atheists don’t lie, steal or lust. I have spoken to thousands of atheists and I don’t recall even one of them saying that he hadn’t broken some, if not all of the Commandments. If you disagree, take the test. Go through each of the Commandments (with a tender conscience) listed on www.NeedGod.com and see how you do.

Words of Comfort: The sound man.

Have you ever noticed that nobody thinks about the sound man at a church service, until something goes wrong. If a microphone screeches or doesn’t work, suddenly everyone turns in annoyance to look for the person who is causing the problem. The unsaved treat God the same way.

Words of Comfort: Hated!

“This [“Evolution vs. God”] has really highlighted to me, why you are so hated amongst the educated community.” Brad Downes

Atheists also hate me.

Words of Comfort: Key against lust.

If as a Christian you have a battle with the temptation to lust (something God sees as adultery), here’s a key to victory. A pastor told of a dog he once owned that was very smart. He said that he could put a piece of meat on the ground next to the animal and tell him not to eat it. Unlike other dogs, the animal didn’t stare at the meat salivating. He instead looked away from it, and looked only to his master for his command.

Words of Comfort: Prideful thinking.

“Out of the entire expanse of the universe, it is beyond prideful to think a god could care about your sex life on a tiny speck of dust floating through space.” Mark Howard

It is beyond interesting that a professing atheist would use the sin of pride in others to try and justify his own sexual sins.

Words of Comfort: Parachutes and God.

An atheist (in answer to a parachute analogy) said, “Except that planes and parachutes are real and God and the afterlife are not."

Ray replied: The truth is that you don't know if there is an afterlife. For this God-less world it’s the biggest of mysteries. But the Christian knows what happens when we die. We know because we have it from the highest Authority on this earth—God’s Word. It tells us that death is an appointment, and that after death we must face God in Judgment. That will be a fearful thing if you don’t have a Savior. Every day more than 150,000 people die. Please seek God today. Every argument you have will be dismissed the moment you come to know Him. Words of Comfort: Cherry Pick.

An atheist said, “I probably take most of Isaiah out of context because I just can't figure out which Bible verses to cherry pick. And because I find those particular Bible verses sick and disgusting and not evidence for an all loving God. But I'm weird that way.”

This person isn’t weird. He’s normal. Idolatry is normal for human beings, and his atheism is rooted in idolatry. Richard Dawkins is an idolater. He has “another god” before the God of the Bible. He cherry-picked the harsh judgments of the God of the Old testament and created a monster devoid of any love or mercy, and then tossed away any thought of the god he created.

This atheist made up an “all loving god” and said that his made up-image is not found in Isaiah. Of course it’s not, because nowhere does the Bible say that God is “all loving.” He is love and He’s merciful, but He’s not so oozing with love that He has no sense of right and wrong. He is also just and holy, will “by no means clear the guilty,” and He is the One you have to face on the Day of Judgment, not the god of your imagination.

Words of Comfort: Origins of Humanity.

USA Today reported, October 18, 2013: "Scientists trying to unravel the origins of humanity mostly study scraps--some ancient teeth here, a damaged bone there. But now a lucky research team has uncovered the first complete skull of an early human adult from the distant past."

So there you have it believers in evolution. Up until now there has been little to nothing for your belief. Just a tooth or a damaged bone. But the discovery of a complete skull has believers believing that they have more. They tell us "It also provides support for the provocative idea that, 1.8 million years ago, only one kind of early human held sway, rather than the throng  of different species listed in today's textbooks." In other words the textbooks in which you have so much faith are wrong. So the experts say...at the moment. If you would like to hear more evolutionary experts, watch www.evolutionVsGod.com

Words of Comfort: Our Motive.

“The difference between theists that talk about science and atheists that talk about religion is that atheists do research before making comments.” Michael Shaw

It’s true that many atheists show up here after researching atheist sites and cutting and pasting old worn out arguments that have been refuted a million times. However, we still explain that there aren’t two creations in the book of Genesis, where Cain got his wife, why no hypocrite will enter Heaven, that being religious can’t save anyone, that God exists even if we don’t believe He does, and that Hell is a reality. If Hell didn’t exist, neither would this Blog. Our only motive is a desire to see you in Heaven.

Words of Comfort: 675,000 hours.

The average person gets just 675,000 hours of life. That's all you have if you cross the road carefully, wear your seatbelt, and avoid diseases and everything else out there that is trying to kill you. But you will still die. Your precious life is slipping through your fingers by the minute and there’s nothing you can do about it. However, there is something that God can do about it. Jesus said that if you seek to save your life, you will lose it, but if you lose it for His sake you will find it. In other words, yield your will to God’s will. Surrender. Give up the battle. Give Him your life, and you get to keep it. In Christ, you can have your cake and eat it. See www.needGod.com for details.

Words of Comfort: "Eternal life would be punishment..."

"There is no such thing as sin. Death is just a natural conclusion to life. I can't see any punishment in death. Actually, eternal life would be punishment." Bjarte Bjørkum

Your "eternal life would be punishment" sure shows the futile existence of the atheist. Christians greatly value every precious moment of life and we look forward to the next, when God's Kingdom comes to the earth. When that happens there will be no more pain, disease, suffering, death, earthquakes, tornadoes, etc. We will have Eden on Earth. Please join us: www.needGod.com

Words of Comfort: Run at Goliath.

An ambassador is “the highest-ranking person who represents his or her own government while living in another country.” As Christians we are ambassadors for Christ (see 2 Corinthians 5:20). We represent the government of Heaven. Such a thought makes me tremble. It makes me have very sober thoughts, because an ambassador can do a great deal of good for his country, or he can start a war with unwise words.

God has entrusted us to be His representatives, so each of us must diligently study so that we use the wisest of words in the most sobering of tasks…that of reaching a Hell-bound world with the gospel of salvation.

I often liken evangelism to swimming. We can talk about it until we are blue in the faith, but if we don’t dive in and do it, we will never swim.

I remember the first time I ever drove a car. I was terrified. I had to remember to do what seemed like a dozen things all at once. Steer straight. Watch the yellow line. Watch the rearview mirror. Keep your foot near the clutch. Be ready to brake. Watch for other cars. Be on the lookout for pedestrians. Watch for cyclists who may swerve. Keep an eye on your speed. Watch for the law. Don’t tailgate, etc. However, after driving for too many years to remember, I could do it blindfolded. My problem now is that I could easily become overconfident, and that’s not good when you are driving something that could kill people.

The same principles apply to evangelism. The first time you approach a stranger you will be terrified. There are so many things to remember. Be ready to stop and listen. Use the Law. Watch for distractions. Make sure you head for the cross, etc. But after you do it again, then again, and again, your confidence will grow, and you will learn to steer the conversation anywhere you want. And if you will let love be your driving force, before you know it, evangelism will have become a way of life.

Of course, you will have to battle fear continually to do it, but once you step out and witness, you will be so confident that no atheist, evolutionist, intellectual, agnostic, gnostic, or even caustic person, will intimidate you.

Run at Goliath.

May God give you great wisdom, a consuming zeal, and a love that will swallow your fears.

Words of Comfort: Full Armor.

Ephesians 6:11-12 we are told to put on the whole armor of God. Many Christians are truthful. They have their heart free of sin, they are sure of their salvation, they rightly use the Word of God. But they are shoeless—they are not prepared to share the gospel. Those who do not advance the cause of the gospel are stationary soldiers; any evangelistic movement is too painful for them. If they are not seeking to save the lost, they are not taking ground for the kingdom of God. Paul climaxed his admonition to the Ephesians by highlighting what the battle is for. He pleads with them to pray for him to have boldness to reach out to the unsaved, citing his moral responsibility (see vs. 20).

Words of Comfort: Argument Against the Bible.

“The only real argument against the Bible is an unholy life. When a man argues against the Word of God, follow him home, and see if you cannot discover the reason of his enmity to the Word of
the Lord. It lies in some sort of sin.”

Words of Comfort: Better than Gold.

For the Christian, every day should be Thanksgiving Day. We should be thankful even in the midst of problems. The apostle Paul said, “I am exceedingly joyful in all our tribulation” (2 Corinthians 7:4). He knew that God was working all things together for his good, even his trials (Romans 8:28). Problems will come your way. God will see to it personally that you grow as a Christian. He will allow storms, to send your roots deep into the soil of His Word. We also pray more in the midst of problems. It’s been well said that you will see more from your knees than on your tiptoes.

A man once watched a butterfly struggling to get out of its cocoon. In an effort to help it, he took a razor blade and carefully slit the edge of the cocoon. The butterfly escaped from its problem . . . but immediately died. It is God’s way to have the butterfly struggle. It is the struggle that causes its tiny heart to beat fast, and send the life’s blood into its wings.

Trials have their purpose. They make us struggle in the cocoon in which we often find ourselves. It is there that the life’s blood of faith in God helps us spread our wings. Faith and thanksgiving are close friends. If you have faith in God, you will be thankful because you know His loving hand is upon you, even though you are in a lion’s den. That will give you a deep sense of joy, which is the barometer of the depth of faith you have in God.

Let me give you an example. Imagine if I said I’d give one million dollars to everyone who emailed to me. Of course, you don’t believe I would do that. But imagine if you did, and that you knew 1,000 people who had sent in the page, and every one received their million dollars—no strings attached. More than that, you actually called me, and I assured you personally that I would keep my word. If you believed me, wouldn’t you have joy? If you didn’t believe me—no joy. The amount of joy you have would be a barometer of how much you believed my promise.

We have so much for which to be thankful. God has given us “exceeding great and precious promises” that are more to be desired than gold. Do yourself a big favor: believe those promises,
thank God continually for them, and “let your joy be full.”   From, The Evidence Bible

Words of Comfort: “Adam didn’t die..."

“Adam didn’t die the day God said he would!”

He certainly did. He died spiritually. The moment he sinned, he became “dead in trespasses and sins” (Ephesians 2:1). Ezekiel 18:4 says, “The soul that sins, it shall die.” It is because we are born spiritually dead that Jesus came to give us spiritual life (John 5:40; 10:10; 14:6; etc.). This is why Jesus told us that we must be born again (John 3:3). When we repent of our sins and believe in Jesus Christ, the Bible tells us that we “pass from death to life” (see John 5:24; Romans 6:13; 1 John 3:14).

Words of Comfort: Ever-shifting Teachings.

“We are invited, brethren, most earnestly to go away from the old-fashioned belief of our forefathers because of the supposed discoveries of science. What is science? The method by which man tries to hide his ignorance. It should not be so, but so it is. You are not to be dogmatical in theology, my brethren, it is wicked; but for scientific men it is the correct thing. You are never to assert anything very strongly; but scientists may boldly assert what they cannot prove, and may demand a faith far more credulous than any we possess. Forsooth, you and I are to take our Bibles and shape and mould our belief according to the ever-shifting teachings of so-called scientific men. What folly is this! Why, the march of science, falsely so called, through the world may be traced by exploded fallacies and abandoned theories. Former explorers once adored are now ridiculed; the continual wreckings of false hypotheses is a matter of universal notoriety. You may tell where the supposed learned have encamped by the debris left behind of suppositions and theories as plentiful as broken bottles.” Charles Spurgeon

Words of Comfort: Lucy.

“Paleontologists have discovered a new skeleton in the closet of human ancestry that is likely to force science to revise, if not scrap, current theories of human origins.” Reuters reported that the discovery left “scientists of human evolution . . .confused,” saying, “Lucy may not even be a direct human ancestor after all.” USA Today

Words of Comfort: Old Bones.

According to an NBC News report some years ago, there was a “remarkable” discovery in Australia. They said the Journal of Science reported that they had found what they considered to be proof that life appeared on earth 2.7 billion years ago—a billion years earlier than previously thought. They now admit that they were wrong in their first estimate (a mere 1,000,000,000 years off), but with this discovery they are now sure that they have the truth...until their next discovery.

The CBS News reported that discoveries were made of the bones of an unknown animal in Asia that may be as much as 40 million years old. This changed scientific minds as to where man first originated. Scientists once believed that primates evolved in Africa, but now they think they may be wrong, and that man’s ancestors may have originated in Asia. So they believe . . . until the next discovery.

Words of Comfort: “It’s only natural that we sin.”

This sinful world will often try to justify themselves when confronted with their sinfulness, by saying, “It’s only natural that we sin.” They’re right—sin does come naturally to us. We naturally lie, steal, lust, etc. The lifestyles of the ungodly can be clearly seen in soap operas, movies, talk shows, and tabloids. However, because it’s natural doesn’t make it right. Until we come to Jesus Christ, “by nature” we are children of wrath (see Ephesians 2:3).

Words of Comfort: Thick Clouds.

Imagine a place on the earth that never saw the sun. Day in, day out, it is covered with thick clouds. From the time a person was born until the time he died he never saw even a glimpse of the sun. Suppose you visited this place and tried to convince the inhabitants of the reality, the beauty, and the power of the sun. “Where I come from,” you say, “a huge yellow ball rises up over the sea each day and floats across the sky, no strings attached, giving warmth and light to those upon the earth. The reason you don’t experience it is because you are cut off from it by the clouds.” Although the thought may seem fantastic to those people, the fact that they don’t believe in it does not change the reality that it exists.

Words of Comfort: Flea on Crutches.

The Bible teaches that Christians are soldiers of Christ, and that we are in a battle against evil. The Intelligence we have from the most reliable Source in the universe is that we may lose a few battles, but we win the war.

Our Guidebook also teaches us that God’s power is so great that He could easily turn 800 billion enemy tanks into fine powder with the flutter of an eyelash. Never, never lose sight of the victory you have in Christ. Don’t let the lies of enemy propaganda penetrate your mind. Remember the command, “Fear not; for I am with you: be not dismayed; for I am your God: I will strengthen you; . . . yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness” (Isaiah 41:10).

To be discouraged is to dishonor God. If He is with us we must never lose courage. A blind, anemic, weak-kneed flea on crutches would have a greater chance of defeating a herd of a thousand wild stampeding elephants than the enemy has of defeating God! From, The Evidence Bible
